The Department of French and Italian at Emory University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Second Language Acquisition and/or French Linguistics at the level of Assistant Professor, starting September 1, 2018. Teaching load: 2 courses per semester. A Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or a related field is required by the time of employment.

Qualifications include a demonstrated ability to teach a full range of French language and pedagogy courses (desirable areas include applied linguistics, French and/or Francophone sociolinguistics, literacy-based instruction, multiliteracies education, transcultural pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning) at the college or graduate level and a proven capacity for substantive and innovative contribution to a language program. We are looking for candidates with experience in curriculum design, development of new instructional materials, supervision of multi-section courses, advising responsibilities, and language pedagogy.

Candidates should have a record of demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service. Native or near-native proficiency in French and English is essential.
