Advanced Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies - early modern (16th-17th century) and/or modern period (1900-present) 

The Department of French and Italian at Emory University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Advanced Assistant Professor starting September 1, 2018. Teaching load: 2 courses per semester. PhD required.  

We seek a colleague with a specialization in either early modern (16th-17th century) and/or modern (1900-present) French or Francophone Studies who shares our commitment to critical theory, close textual analysis and interdisciplinary approaches and who would complement and diversify our signature strengths. We would be particularly interested in candidates with sub-specializations in philosophy; aesthetics; theater and performance; poetics; sexuality studies; film; new media and technology; and medical humanities. 

Candidates should have a record of demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service. Preference may be given to candidates who specialize in more than one field of French and Francophone Studies and/or whose work puts French and Francophone Studies into a dynamic engagement with other fields and disciplines.
